John is a member of the Tax and Finance Practice Group, and the Bankruptcy and Workout Team Co-Chair. He is also Chair of the Vietnam Team. He works exclusively in the business reorganization process, both in Chapter 11's and state law work outs. He represents debtors, as well as creditors, both secured and unsecured. He has served as a Chapter 7 Trustee for 24 years, a Chapter 12 Trustee for 12 years and has been appointed as creditors' committee counsel.

Greenebaum’s experienced Bankruptcy and Workout team offers a wide range of professional skills to debtors, debtors in possession, creditors of troubled customers and clients, creditors’ committees, potential acquirers, investors and turnaround professionals in matters involving financially troubled individuals and business entities.
Our team, headed by incoming American Bankruptcy Institute President John Ames, includes Fellows of the American College of Bankruptcy, board members of the American Bankruptcy Institute, as well as other professionals with significant experience in debtor/creditor matters, including workouts, restructurings and insolvencies both inside and outside of bankruptcy. * Litigating avoidance actions (i.e., preference and fraudulent conveyance matters) and disputes regarding lender liability and/or equitable subordination of claims.
* Litigating appointment of trustees and/or conversion of Chapter 11 cases to Chapter 7 cases.
* Litigating the validity, perfection, priority and enforcement of security interests.
* Liquidation and going-out-of-business sales.
* Representing Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 Trustees.
* Advising owners, officers and directors of their obligations and duties involving financially troubled entities.
* Representing and advising professionals in bankruptcy retention, representation and fee applications.
